Mami hit the ground with a thump. She could hear the noises of a mall, or train station, or airport--hard to say which, although from her current vantage point (filled with sterile white tile) she seemed to be in a handicapped bathroom. Alone, thank goodness. She banished her transformation, but held her Soul Gem cupped in the palm of her hand. Its light was steady, which brought instant relief and then instant shame. That witch had had powers she'd never thought possible. It was like it had been twisting reality, looking at once like it was from an old folktale and science fiction. She had a very bad feeling about it--the sooner she got rid of it, the better.
Stepping out of the bathroom revealed something much different than she'd ever expected. The opposite wall was a series of glass panes looking out into a jet-black sky, with a blue glow at the bottom. And, drawing closer, the source of that glow was revealed as Earth.
Her heartbeat thudded in her ears. Kyuubey? "Kyuubey!" she hissed in a loud whisper when the mental call failed, but just as uselessly. She stood rigid, transfixed by the sight.
The witch had sent her into the future.
